Hotels recognized for achieving significant water and energy savings through advanced technologies and sustainability initiatives
Al Bandar Rotana and Al Bandar Arjaan by Rotana have been honored with a prestigious sustainability award from Johnson Controls at the WETEX 2024 event, held in Dubai. This award acknowledges the hotels’ remarkable achievements in environmental conservation, with an impressive 30% reduction in water usage and a 40% reduction in electricity consumption, made possible through innovative systems and sustainability initiatives.
The award highlights the fruitful partnership between the two luxury properties and Johnson Controls, a global leader in smart building technologies and sustainability solutions. Johnson Controls has been instrumental in introducing cutting-edge cooling and energy efficiency systems, helping businesses around the world, including in the UAE, optimize resource usage and reduce their carbon footprint.
Ayman Ashor, General Manager of Al Bandar Rotana and Al Bandar Arjaan by Rotana, has been a driving force behind the sustainability efforts at both hotels. Under his leadership and commitment to the Rotana Earth initiatives, the hotels collaborated with Johnson Controls to implement their Cooling as a Service (CaaS) project. This advanced system has greatly enhanced the hotels’ energy management and water conservation efforts, leading to outstanding improvements in resource efficiency.

In addition to this accolade, Al Bandar Rotana is aiming for the “Gold” category in the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Stamp, an initiative by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The hotel, which secured the Silver category last year, is actively participating in sustainability programs to meet Dubai’s 19 stringent sustainability requirements, all part of the UAE’s Year of Sustainability.
